Acting DGCA Vows to Streamline Processes, Enhancing Safety, Prioritize Stakeholder Collaboration

The Acting Director General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Chris Njomo, has pledged to streamline the renewal process of the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) and enhance regulatory servicesĀ of licensing, economic permits to grant of authorization.

He emphasized the importance of addressing concerns raised by stakeholders and aligning with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Mr. Festus Keyamo’s five-point agenda to facilitate a more business-friendly environment in the aviation sector.

During his assumption of office, Captain Njomo highlighted the need to reorientate NCAA staff towards efficient regulatory practices. 

He affirmed the commitment to create a conducive environment for aviation activities, aiming to eliminate unnecessary obstacles that might deter investors and hinder industry growth.

The Acting DGCA, expressed the determination to vigorously implement consumer protection regulations, ensuring that passengers receive value for their money. 

According to him, NCAA has made strides in resolving passenger complaints, minimizing issues such as delays and non-compensation.

To enhance communication between the authority and the industry, he said, the NCAA introduced a comprehensive reporting software called SMS Pro. 

This platform he explains allows service providers and the public to electronically submit reports to the NCAA, aligning with ICAO’s provisions and fostering a collaborative approach for a safe and efficient aviation sector.

Captain Njomo underscored a shift in the NCAA’s role, moving away from a policing approach to a more proactive stance, emphasizing that non-conformity would not be overlooked and assured that the NCAA would address non-compliance with regulations through appropriate actions, including enforcement measures.

In pursuit of the vision to become one of the leading civil aviation authorities globally, he stressed the importance of collaboration within the industry. 

This collaboration aims to promote safety, efficiency, and economic viability in the aviation sector, aligning with international standards and the Minister’s five-point agenda and the President’s renewed hope agenda.

Captain Njomo affirmed that safety, security, economic health of the industry, and customer satisfaction remain the top priorities for the NCAA.
