Airline operators in a dilemma over baggage issues at airports as passengers suffer delays

Airline operators are expressing frustration over the baggage system breakdown at airport terminals in Lagos.

The situation, they say is not different at the General Aviation Terminal GAT One and the Abuja airport due to the increase in passenger traffic.

According to our aviation correspondent Nosa Aituamen who monitored passenger traffic at the airport, most airlines had to delay their schedules this morning as the baggage screaming machines at Murtala Mohammed Airport Terminal, MM2, collapsed during screening, while at the GAT the only screening machine is over worked.

Some officials of the airlines who spoke on the condition of anonimity said, the situation had been like this for many weeks.

According to them, airlines on time departures have been scuttled and passengers were angry over the poor facilitation and take off of flight as promised.

They also complained of inadequate parking space for aircraft at the MM2 terminal which contributed to the chaotic situation at the airport this morning.

Currently, facilities for passenger processing and infrastructure are overwhelmed with the continuous upsurge in passenger traffic hinged on insecurity on the roads.
