Alleged Reckless Spending: Lagos Assembly tackles Governor, Deputy; Sanwo-Olu blames overzealous staff for errors.

The Lagos State Assembly has invited the state’s procurement agency over reports of alleged reckless spending by the Offices of the Governor and the Deputy Governor.

At a plenary of the House, the Speaker, Chief Mudashiru Obasa, while noting that the executive arm of government had made efforts to declare the story as untrue, it was necessary for the House to look into the issue so as the establish the facts behind the story.

He asked the House Committee on Procurement to invite the agency and others mentioned and do a thorough job to establish facts concerning the publications.

Meanwhile, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reacted to the open letters written to him by opposition parties in Lagos on discrepancies in procurement figures, noting that constructive criticisms are welcome.

The Governor, however, frowned on malicious criticism on misrepresentation of figures which he admitted was due to mistake from overzealous staff.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Green Building of the Lagos State Building Control Agency in Ikeja GRA, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism that the achievements of his administration would be used as his scorecard by residents and not what he called false news on social media.

Governor Sanwo-Olu assured residents of the state of more dividends of democracy in his second term which was his electioneering campaign promises to them, with a call on residents to contribute their quota to the development of the state by paying their taxes promptly.
