‎An NGO Moves to Support Mental, Physical Wellbeing of Child Domestic Workers in Lagos

‎The Chief Executive Officer of the Cece Yara Child Advocacy Centre, Mrs. Bisi Ajayi-Kayode, says the organisation is introducing new measures to improve the mental, psychological and physical wellbeing of child domestic workers in Lagos State.

‎She made this known at a consultative workshop recently, an event that was attended by service providers working with vulnerable children across all local Government areas of Lagos State.

‎Speaking on the theme “Strengthening service providers’ ability to identify, assess and respond to the mental, physical and psychological needs of child domestic workers in Lagos State,” Ajayi-Kayode described child domestic labour as a concern that requires more attention from families and communities.

‎She noted that many children in domestic roles experience emotional strain, neglect or abuse, which can affect their long-term development and prospects.

‎The workshop brought together stakeholders to discuss ways to improve support systems and ensure timely interventions for affected children.

‎Also speaking, the Chief Operations Officer of the Street Project Foundation, Ms. Eduvielawhe Olutimayin, emphasised the use of creative and performing arts as tools for public awareness.

Eduvielawhe Olutimayin said such approaches help encourage dialogue on child protection issues within communities.

‎The one-day event brought together child-advocacy groups and partners from different parts of Lagos State.
