Anambra Warriors sent shock waves through Nigeria’s beach soccer landscape after emerging as first-time champions of the 2025 Beach Soccer Super Finals in Abuja.
Against all odds, the Warriors dethroned defending champions Kebbi Fishers 5–3 on penalties following a dramatic 3–3 draw in regulation time at the Jabi Lake Resort.
Hassan Abdullahi, Taiwo Adams and Hassan Muhammed found the net for the Fishers, while Ekujimi Eganosi, Peter Prosper and Stanley Ekwo secured the Warriors’ goals before the nervy shootout.
The defeat marked Kebbi Fishers’ first loss of the tournament after cruising through three consecutive wins en route to the final.
Earlier, Kada BSC clinched third-place honours with a dominant 3–0 victory over Kebbi United.
Anambra Warriors swept the individual honours as well, with Stanley Ekwo named Most Valuable Player and Segun Basorun winning Best Goalkeeper.
Their triumph drew praise from the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, who commended the team’s dedication, resilience and sportsmanship.
