Aviation: Union directs AvSec and Logistics workers to withdraw services indefinitely

One of the unions in the aviation industry has directed employees of Aviation Security (AvSec) and logistics sub-sector to embark on a total withdrawal of services indefinitely from Wednesday(tomorrow) August 16th over unfair remuneration.

The union’s General Secretary, National Union of Air Transport Employees, NUATE, comrade Ocheme Aba in a statement says, with the current salary levels as low as N30,000 a month for graduates, there is no gain saying that AvSec employment in Nigeria is nothing other than a slave labour camp.

He said, the union has done everything possible to resolve the lingering crisis of extreme impoverishment of employees of Aviation Security (AvSec) and logistics sub-sector of the aviation industry in Nigeria, but to no avail.

Comrade Aba explained, managements of all the companies in the business have all failed to secure decent contracts that can avail fair remuneration for their workers and would no longer be allowed to continue.

He stated that, state Councils and Branches of NUATE in Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Port Harcourt and Enugu have been directed to be on hand to ensure full compliance with the directive.
