Bayelsa Succumb to Champions’ Firepower in CAF Women Competition

Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria opened their debut appearance in the CAF Women’s Champions League Morocco 2022 on a losing note.

The Nigerian team fell 1-2 to the tournament’s defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies today in the opening group B matchup played in Marrakech.

Leloni Daweti beaded the South Africans 1nill up in the 37th minute following a miscalculation of an ariel ball into Bayelsa’s goal area.

The number 16 shirted player completed her brace in the 57th minute to make matters worse for Queens.

However a 72nd minute goal by Mary-Magdalene Anjor set up a grandstand finish for the game, but it was too late too little for Bayelsa to salvage the situation.

Up next for the Nigerian team is a meeting with TP Mazembe on 3 November.
