Bishop Odetoyinbo Preaches Peaceful Coexistence as Christians Celebrate Easter

By Fabian Anawo

The Catholic Bishop of Abeokuta Diocese, the Most Reverend Peter Odetoyinbo wants Nigerians to embrace peace and live in unity this Easter and beyond.

The appeal is contained in his Easter message to Nigerians.

He reminded Christian faithful of the goodness of God and His merciful acts towards His children.

According to him, Easter celebration reminds humanity of the testimony of the wonders of God by raising Jesus Christ from the dead.

He said that the resurrection of Jesus Christ was a salvic act that transcends the machinations of men.

Bishop Odetoyinbo encouraged Christians to embrace the core values of humanity, including patriotism, faith, loyalty, honesty, and service to fellow beings.

The red caped Priest urged elected officials to use their positions to serve the people and provide basic amenities that will improve the lives of Nigerians as Christ did.

He said that Christ’s love would be manifested when people love one another regardless of tribe and religion saying that Easter is the time to live a new life, and new beginnings.

The cleric reminded everyone that Easter is not just a time of celebration but also a time of reflection and renewal, a time to renew individual commitment to faith and to imitate Christ.
