Over Two Hundred Patients Express Disappointment over Poor Handling of Free Medical Screening in Lagos

By Glady Haruna

Over two hundred patients with different ailments  who attended  the free medical and surgical treatment organised by the rotary club in collaboration with the Association of Nigerian Physicians in America, ANPA, have expressed  disappointment at the handling of the programme.

The patients made this known at one of the screening centres in Aniyun Hospital Ifako Gbagada.

According to the patients the hospital refused to screen them stating that they had a comprehensive list of about one hundred people that had booked via phone earlier, while about eighty percent of the people that booked were not on ground.

They further stated that there was no information  on the flier or any other public communication instructing patients to  book before the screening exercise.
“They did not attend to anyone, we called register, we were told they have been using their own list as they were waiting for those to attend to, why keep people here”.

” We were looking forward to them treating us they, we were asked to come here for this free tests, we got flyers and called to book a slot”.

All efforts to speak with the hospital management proved abortive, but a volunteer in the hospital who spoke under anonmity noted that the hospital said it will continue today with the eighty percent that were not on ground the previous day.
