The Chairman of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Usman Inuwa, has confirmed a bomb blast in Mubang village that injured six persons.
He attributed the explosion to Boko Haram, noting that the same village was attacked earlier in the month, resulting in the death of 14 residents.
Inuwa said the injured victims are currently receiving treatment at a hospital and disclosed that no life was lost in the latest incident.
He added that a joint team of security personnel and vigilantes regularly patrols the area and has often repelled Boko Haram attacks.
Meanwhile, stakeholders from Sokoto State’s eastern senatorial district have appealed to the government and security agencies to intervene in communities displaced by the activities of notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji.
The call followed a viral video showing residents of Tidibale community fleeing their homes over alleged threats.
Secretary of the Sokoto Eastern Zone Development Association, Muazu Shamaki, said the situation has caused severe hardship, revealing that more than 20 settlements have been affected by similar attacks and forced displacements across the area.
In a related development, the Federal and Niger State governments have ordered illegal occupants of the Kainji National Park to vacate the area ahead of a major security operation.
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, said the move is aimed at flushing out terrorists and bandits, directing forest occupants to leave within two months, while nearby communities have two weeks to relocate to avoid collateral damage.
