A serious accident occurred today on the Stadium Bridge inward Ojuelegba, Lagos, Nigeria. A tanker carrying flammable liquid toppled over and crushed a car underneath it. The liquid spilled over the bridge and posed a fire hazard to the surrounding area. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) responded swiftly to the scene and cordoned off the area. They also contacted other relevant agencies such as the Fire Service, the Police, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for assistance. The LASEMA spokesperson, Mr. Nosa Okunbor, said that the rescue operation was ongoing and that no casualties had been confirmed yet.

He also advised motorists to avoid the bridge and use alternative routes such as the service lane or the Ikorodu Road. He said that the LASEMA team was working hard to clear the obstruction and restore normalcy to the traffic flow. He appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate with the emergency responders.
The accident has raised concerns about the safety of tankers on Lagos roads, especially on bridges and flyovers. Many residents have called for stricter regulations and enforcement of safety standards for tanker drivers and operators. They also urged the government to provide more infrastructure and facilities for the transportation of petroleum products in the state.
