The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, says the Fourth Door of Return programme holding in Badagry will not only be of economic and spiritual benefits to Lagos residents, but also to people living in the diaspora.
She stated this at a news briefing at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, adding that the Fourth Door of Return was scheduled to hold between 19th and 21st of this month in Badagry with the aim to positively project Lagos tourist attraction and culture to the world.
Mrs Dabiri-Erewa said while many Nigerians were leaving the country in search of the proverbial greener pasture, many others in the diaspora have traced their roots to Nigeria and wanted to be associated with the country.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, said the Lagos State Government was committed to unveiling the hidden treasures of Badagry and the state to the world through the Fourth Door of Return programme.
Activities lined up for the event include boat regatta, cultural festivals and the symbolic walk through the door of return by some members of the diaspora community led by Dr Julius Garvey.
