Capacity Building: NiMet trains Directors, GM’s

The Director General, Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, Prof Mansur Matazu says, the recently assented NiMet bill by President Muhammadu Buhari will reposition and make the Agency effective and efficient.

Prof. Matazu stated this at two day training programme for Senior Management staff of NiMet organised in collaboration with the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria. 

The objective of the two day training is to build the capacity of Directors and General Managers in the discharge of their duty.

“Am happy also to mention that we got our bill repealed by the national Assembly and Mr President graciously  assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari and we got it gazetted just last week. It will surely reposition us to be more effective and efficient”.

He said, the workshop would help the participants to know more and the difference between weather and climate as this is critical to their operations.

According to Prof. Matazu, apart from the soft ware, another critical ware is the hardware with which NiMet conducts her operations which is the human wares. 

Describing human beings as highly flexible, the NiMet boss observed that humans will continue to learn until the end of time. 

He expressed happiness that NiMet has one of the most vibrant workforce with highly skilled personnel in all cadres, be it low, middle or the management cadre.
