Christmas: Be Hopeful, Spread Love, Sanwo-Olu urges Lagos Residents

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged Lagos residents not to lose hope due to the country’s economic challenges.

The governor gave the admonition on Thursday night at the 2023 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons organised by the First Family with the Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs, with the theme: “King of Righteousness,” at Lagos House, Ikeja.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said that the seventeenth edition of the Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons, was held to honour the king of kings and the author of life, stating that residents must continue to live together and love one another, having faith in God.

The Governor who was represented by his wife, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, urged Lagosians to continue to live in peace, love and togetherness, trust in God and have faith with ceaseless prayers as his government would continue to roll out welfare programmes and would always keep on improving.

“As we celebrate Jesus Christ through spreading His love and hope for humanity, we must continue to preach togetherness and spread the message of tolerance, peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationship among people of diverse beliefs and backgrounds.

“As we proceed into the festive period and the New Year, I urge all Lagosians to continue living in peace and righteousness which, according to the scripture exalts a nation,” he said.

In her speech, the wife of the Governor, said Lagos State would continue to follow the ideals of the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on the renewed hope project to ensure that the aged were catered for.

The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr Ibrahim Layode, urged all to count their blessings despite the challenges as the Yuletide teaches Lagosians to extend hands of generosity and brotherliness towards mankind.

The programme which had in attendance, top government officials, religious leaders among other dignitaries featured Bible readings, Hymns, and Special Ministrations.
