Edem Invitational Basketball Tournament Goes Continental

The next edition of Louis Edem Invitational Basketball Tournament will hold in Ghana.

The organiser and former D’Tiger Louis Edem made this known on his official Facebook account, adding that the Ghana event will take place in August 2023.

The upcoming competition is in collaboration with Ghanaian team Spintex Knights who fought so hard at the last tournament in Lagos, losing agonisingly in yesterday’s final 57-65 to Nigerian champions Kwara Falcons.

According to Edem six elite Nigerian basketball clubs will be taken to Ghana for the championship which rewarded the winners of the last edition Falcons with N2 million as prize money.

The win for Falcons was their third successive championship victory from last year.

The Baba Jubril coached side first brushed aside all opposition to win the Sam Oguche tournament, then confirmed their supremacy by winning the ultimate prize in the NBBF Premier League before adding the Louis Edem Invitational to their list of accolades.

All three championships toon place in Lagos Nigeria.

Next up for the Falcons is the continent’s elite contest The Basketball African League where 12 teams had been divided into two conferences – the Sahara Conference and the Nile Conference.

Each conference will play a 15-game group phase during which each team will face the other five teams in its conference once.
