FAAN Launches Public Awareness Campaign on New Access Gate Fees Policy

The Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Kuku, has launched a comprehensive public awareness campaign to inform airport users about the new policy on access gate fees.

This campaign follows a recent directive from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, requiring all citizens to pay access gate fees at all 24 airports nationwide.

Mrs. Kuku stated that immediate implementation of this mandate will help address significant revenue leakages that the new management is committed to eliminating.

She praised President Bola Tinubu and the Minister for their proactive efforts in leveraging technology to increase revenue, prevent leakages, and reduce the abuse of privileges by VIPs.

“FAAN is ready to use technology to enhance its revenue efforts,” she emphasized. “The new mandate also offers protection for FAAN staff, who often face bullying and coercion from VIPs and military personnel.”

Mrs. Kuku noted that while the E-tag system at Lagos and Abuja international airports and the inclusion of VIPs in paying access gate fees nationwide are being implemented immediately, measures are being taken to alleviate potential traffic congestion, especially in Lagos and Abuja.

She assured that, “All government organizations, the military, and VIPs fully support Mr. President’s directive. FAAN is therefore assured of comprehensive support.”

Mrs. Kuku is dedicated to repositioning FAAN by prioritizing key strategic reforms in line with the 5-point agenda of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
