Fashola Tasked Nigerians on Quality Leadership, Professionalism at NIS Lagos Chapter 40th AGM, Investiture

Leaders and followers must learn to have emotional intelligence to be professional in any field of discipline they find themselves for the society to be a better place to live and extend life expectancy.

Former Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, made the call at the fortieth annual general meeting and investiture of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyor, NIS, Lagos State Branch held at Alausa, with the theme Leadership and Professionalism.

Mr Fashola enjoined all professionals to have attitudinal change noting that amateurish jobs have unquantifiable effects on lives and property.

He said it was important to connect professionalism which is about politeness to leadership which is about divine and earthly service, urging private citizens to always see the need to ensure improvement in offering the best quality delivery.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Survey Matters in Lagos, Mr Ayokunnu Adesina, described the theme of the event as apt as leadership is the cause of both positive and negative developments.

The Outgoing Chairman, NIS Lagos State Branch, Mr Olukolade Kasim, urged members to always allow quality to take precedence professionally while restating that the electronic beacon request app had come to stay with a call on members to embrace mentorship for the next generation.

In a goodwill message, the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rasheed Ladoja, represented by his Balogun Osi, who noted that Surveying is the backbone of development, adequate mapping and infrastructure, congratulated the new NIS Lagos Chapter a successful tenure with a call to take professionalism integrity and discipline the focal point of his administration.

After investiture of new executives for the next three years, the Newly elected Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors Lagos State Branch, Mr Adedeji Olanrewaju, pledged the commitment to providing quality leadership, professionalism and the advancements of surveying practices in the state while leveraging on technology to further foster sustainable growth and development.

The National President, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Mr Pius Eze, represented by his Deputy, Mr. Kunle Ogunbadewa, as urging members to continue to foster innovation, mentorship and ethical practices to drive sustainable development.

Award of Excellence were presented to dignitaries and members for their contribution to the association, at the event including Oba Rasheed Lamidi, Mr Babatunde Fashola, Mr Adedeji Sebiotimo among others.
