FEC approves 2nd Abuja airport runway design and construction, ratifies policy on food

The Federal Executive Council, FEC, has approved the design and construction of the second runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. 

Briefing newsmen on behalf of the Minister of Aviation, the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said the expansion would solve the take-off delays being encountered. 

FEC has also ratified the policy on food and nutrition for the country. 

This, according to the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, will form the basis of a national multi- sectoral plan for action for food and nutrition.

He said by FEC’s ratification, there would be a budget line for food and nutrition in all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

He said FEC had given leave to the  Attorney General of the Federation to proceed with the process of ratifying promotional framework for Occupational Safety and Health convention. 

This, according to him, is about promoting preventive health, preventive safety, and healthcare in work places across the country. 

Mallam Garba Shehu explained that the development was the beginning of the process of domesticating and applying the resolution by the International Labour Organisation adopted in 2006.
