Federal Civil Service to Go Fully Digital by December 2025

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, says the Federal Civil Service will go fully paperless by December thirty- one, 2025.

Mrs. Walson-Jack made this known in Lagos during an engagement with staff of the Federal Ministry of Works at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, saying the move is part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and project implementation across Ministries.

As part of the digital transformation, she revealed that several tools had been introduced to support civil servants in delivering better quality service.

According to Mrs Walson – Jack, a key innovation is the introduction of ServiceWise GPT, an AI-powered assistant, developed to aid civil service operations.

She said that a weekly webinar series had also been launched to help civil servants adopt a digital mindset.

“So we’re actually undergoing a digital transformation in the Federal Civil Service. And one of the things that we’re saying is that by 31st December 2025, the Federal Civil Service would go paperless. Now, in order to aid the digitalization and the transformation that is going on, we recently introduced several digital tools to help civil servants to deliver better quality service. Our flagship digital tool is our own AI powered assistant called Service.”

“This tool has been trained on the 1999 Constitution, the public service rules, the federal, the financial regulations, and all other public service documents and instruments that civil servants generally use to do their work. And I dare say that the tool is becoming quite popular, not only among civil servants, but also public servants as well as the private sector.”

The Head of Service of the Federation emphasized that the strength of any institution lies in its people, stressing the need to provide a conducive work environment, adequate resources and responsive support.

Mrs. Walson-Jack praised the commitment of staff in the Federal Ministry of Works and commended their tireless service to the nation.

“I want to let you know that you are the unsung heroes of governance, the engine room that keeps the machinery of the federal government of Nigeria running despite the unique challenges of this region, your dedication, professionalism and resilience continue to inspire and so today, I say thank you for all that you do.”

The Head of Service of the Federation and her team were hosted by the Federal Controller Works in Lagos State, Engineer Korede Kesha.
