Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a statewide broadcast on Friday, the governor announced his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stating that members of his cabinet and the party structure in the state had joined him in moving to the ruling party.
Governor Fintiri explained that the defection was informed by what he described as the need to accelerate development in Adamawa State and to act in the overall interest of the people.
He assured residents that the decision was taken after wide consultations and expressed optimism that the new political alignment would open more opportunities for growth and progress in the state.
