The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have formalised a new partnership aimed at tackling economic sabotage and reducing road traffic crashes nationwide.
The agreement was reached during a courtesy visit by FRSC Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, to the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Road Safety as a National Security Issue
Speaking at the meeting, the FRSC Corps Marshal stressed that road safety must be treated not only as a transport matter but as a national security and economic priority.
He noted that reckless driving leads to dual consequences, the tragic loss of lives and massive economic losses.
According to him, the partnership marks a renewed determination to end unlawful transport practices and road carnage that undermine national development.
“This collaboration is a renewed offensive against the culture of impunity that has long endangered lives and weakened our progress as a nation,” Mohammed stated.
EFCC Backs Strong EnforcementIn his response, EFCC Chairman, Mr. Olukoyede, welcomed the initiative and pledged the Commission’s full support.
He emphasised that both economic sabotage and reckless endangerment of lives on Nigerian roads will now be confronted with the full weight of the law.
He assured that the synergy between the two agencies would strengthen enforcement mechanisms and help safeguard lives, public resources, and national development.
