FRSC Orders Contractors Nationwide to Install Adequate Road Signage Immediately

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a nationwide directive mandating all construction companies to immediately ensure proper and adequate road signage at every construction site across Nigeria.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed said the order aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing drive to improve safety and efficiency through extensive road construction and rehabilitation projects nationwide.

He noted that the directive is aimed at protecting motorists and other road users around both active and inactive construction zones.

Mohammed further instructed all Commanding Officers to commence strict enforcement across their formations, ensuring full compliance by contractors handling federal or state road projects.

He criticised the repeated failure of some construction firms to provide essential warning, information, and diversion signs, an oversight he described as dangerous and unacceptable, given its implications for road safety.

The Corps Marshal stressed that the new directive is final and enforceable, warning that any contractor who violates approved safety standards will face decisive regulatory action.

He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to working with stakeholders to ensure that the Federal Government’s investments in road infrastructure translate to safer and more secure travel for Nigerians.
