The Federal School of Statistics (FSS), Ibadan, has joined the national effort to eradicate malaria through the Geneith Health Competition (GHC) — a public health initiative aimed at empowering students as ambassadors in the fight against malaria and promoting community-based health awareness.
The campaign launch, held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the school’s conference hall, drew key stakeholders from both the academic and health sectors.
In her remarks, the Rector, Mrs. Olugu Mercy Uche, lauded Geneith Pharmaceutical Limited and CEOAFRICA for selecting the institution to participate in the nationwide campaign.
She described the initiative as a vital contribution to the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aligning with national efforts to enhance preventive healthcare and hygiene among young Nigerians.
“This initiative resonates deeply with our institutional values and supports the government’s vision of ensuring access to quality healthcare for all,” Mrs. Uche stated.
“By targeting malaria—one of the most preventable yet deadly diseases—we are contributing meaningfully to national well-being.”
The project’s initiator and Managing Director/CEO of CEOAFRICA, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, explained that the campaign goes beyond advocacy, serving as a platform to build youth leaders capable of driving behavioral change.
He emphasized that ending malaria requires joint effort from government, private sector, and citizens, commending Geneith Pharmaceuticals and Coatal Forte Softgel for their commitment to the cause.

Representing the students, SUG President Sen. E.K. Olugbuyi pledged full student participation, including regular sanitation exercises and awareness drives.
The event ended with a collective pledge by the school community to promote malaria prevention and hygiene education, reinforcing their commitment to a malaria-free Nigeria.
