Footballers in Badagry Division have been advised to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play as the Ojelabi Football Competition kicks off.
The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Mr. Deji Williams, gave the charge during a press conference held to announce preparations for the tournament.
Mr. Williams explained that the competition, initiated by the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, aims to discover and reward hidden football talents while fostering unity and healthy rivalry among clubs within the division.
He noted that participation is strictly limited to teams from Ajeromi Ifelodun, Amuwo Odofin, Badagry, and Ojo LGAs, as well as the six LCDAs under the division.
According to him, the tournament—scheduled to kick off on Saturday, November 15, 2025—will be held in three stages, starting with local preliminaries in each council area on a knockout basis.
He stressed that discipline and fair competition would be key to the success of the event.
Representing Pastor Ojelabi, his Chief Press Secretary, Mrs. Omobola Akingbehin, urged players and fans to promote peace, unity, and fair play throughout the competition.
She said the tournament was not only about football but also about building stronger community ties.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Sule Tolani, who described sports as a vital avenue for youth engagement, pledged ₦500,000 to reward the most disciplined and peaceful team.

Meanwhile, the Badagry Division Football Association, represented by its Director of Programmes, Mr. Abel Sohe, appealed to all participating teams to strictly adhere to FIFA rules during the games.
