GOS Hosts Ramadan Lecture, Calls for Peaceful Coexistence

As the Ramadan and Lenten season continue, Nigerians have been urged to co-habit peacefully and worship God according to the dictates of their religion.

A former federal lawmaker in Lagos, Senator Ganiyu Solomon popularly called GOS, gave the admonition at the annual Ramadan lecture of his late father, Alhaji Rafiu Solomon, held in Lagos.

Senator Solomon noted that the coincidence of Lent and Ramadan is ordained by God and should not be trivialized but used in strong spiritual connection for rebirth and prayer for the country.”

Muslims must possess compassion, integrity, humility, and selfless service, while individuals must dedicate their lives to uplifting others, promoting peace, and strengthening community bonds for them to be remembered like my late father”.

“My father late Alhaji Rafiu Ishola Solomon left behind a legacy of leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment to community development, which continues to inspire the present generation”.

Senator Solomon who eulogized his late father said the annual Ramadan lecture in his honours was to give to the less privileged in the society in the spirit of sacrifice and selflessly which Ramadan indicates, with a call on Muslims to exhibit the peaceful nature of Islam noting that the religion is not about violence as being adjudged in some quarters.

Speaking on a lecture titled “Promise/Trust Between Leaders and the Led,”, a Professor of Religion from Lagos State University, Professor AbdulKabir Olawale Paramole called on well meaning Nigerians especially those at the helms of affairs to prioritize the welfare of the masses, alleviate their plights and ensure dividends of democracy are felt at the nooks and crannies of the country, noting that leaders shall give accounts of their stewardship before Allah.

“There is a responsibility, accountability, and the divine trust placed upon both leaders and followers to uphold justice and integrity in society”.

“I urged elected and appointed politicians to represent people well, also to lay good legacy just the way Late Alhaji Solomon did and the led should also verify information to be disseminated in the public domain”.

The event attracted religious leaders, political stakeholders, community heads, and residents from across Mushin and beyond, who offered prayers for the repose of the late statesman and reflected on the virtues of purposeful living.
