Stakeholders in Lagos State’s education sector have identified Ifako-Ijaiye as one of the most educationally advanced local government areas in the state.
The confirmation came at an event held at Fagba Junior Grammar School, where the lawmaker representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, distributed thousands of school materials to pupils under his Back-to-School Support Initiative.
The outreach, now in its fifth edition, attracted hundreds of pupils, parents, teachers, and community leaders. Items shared included 500 school bags, 6,000 exercise books, 10,000 writing materials, 500 mathematical sets, 1,000 pairs of socks, and 500 water bottles.
Hon. Adewale said the initiative was aimed at easing the financial burden on parents while motivating pupils to excel. He recalled earlier interventions in which free GCE and JAMB forms were distributed, noting that his efforts were designed to complement President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to education.
“Service and leadership start from the grassroots. That has always been Asiwaju Tinubu’s principle, and it remains a tested strategy. Today, we recognize him as the best President Nigeria has had, and I encourage everyone to do their part. The education of our children cannot be left to the government and parents alone,” he stated.
Reaffirming education as his legislative priority, Adewale assured pupils of benefiting from scholarships through the Adewale Temitope Adedeji Educational Initiative (ATA-EI).

In his remarks, Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun, commended the initiative, projecting that Ifako-Ijaiye was on course to becoming the state’s most educated local government area.
The Special Adviser on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, and the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District I, Dr. Oyetola Olufunke Idowu, also lauded the lawmaker’s contributions, noting visible improvements in pupils’ performance in the 2023 and 2024 examinations.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude, promising to make good use of the materials.
