Investment Security: NIS to Introduce Trust Visa to encourage Foreign Investors

The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, is to introduce what is called Trust Visa to encourage and attract more foreign investors into the country.

The Trust visa is to guarantee foreign investors that their investments with would-be Nigerian partners will be a success.

The Acting Comptroller General, NIS, Mrs Carol Adepoju disclosed this during the inauguration of the remodelled and expanded Visa-On-Arrival VOA, office/Lounge at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos.

The Trust Visa according to the Acting Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Mrs. Carol Adepoju will be issued to foreign investors after thorough background investigation in collaboration with the concerned security agencies in the country of the would-be Nigerian partner.

This initiative, the Acting Comptroller General Immigration said, would further help to restore confidence in would-be foreign investors that, their investments in Nigeria would be successful.

”If you are an investor, you want to come to Nigeria and you want to partner with anyone, we will help you, we will have a dossier, we will have a security report on that person and we will let you know if he/she is a trustworthy person or not and the moment we are able to tell you who the person is, we will guarantee that your investment in partnership with them will be a success, it is a way of attracting investors into this country”.

On the newly remodelled and expanded Visa-On-Arrival Lounge at the Lagos International Airport, Mrs. Adepoju said, it is to ease the bureaucratic processes associated with obtaining a business visa and to increase the appeal of the country as an investment destination encouraging more foreign direct investments.

“The renovation and expansion of the VOA lounges speak to the commitment of the Service and the Nation to welcoming High Business Network Investors willing to come for business purposes”.

The Zonal Coordinator Zone A Headquaters, Lagos, Mr. Kayode Sadiq said, the facelift of the lounge was in furtherance of the executive Order of the Federal Government on Ease of Doing Business.

Regional General Manager, South West Airports and Airport Manager, MMIA, Lagos, Mr. Felix Akinbinu called for more collaboration among the security agencies to ensure passengers safety, security and seamless facilitation.

”Government agencies at this airport, the team spirit, collaboration and synergy is remarkable, whatever that can be done  for the command please madam do not hesitate in helping us”.

The Comptroller NIS, Lagos Airport Command, Mrs. Adeola Adesokan applauded all its partners for their contribution to the success story of the NIS at the airport.

Other activities after the inauguration of the VOA Lounge was a tour of the NIS Desks at both the old and new MMIA Airport Terminals and meetings with security agencies and officers and men of the NIS command.
