To commemorate the International Women’s Day, the National Pension Commission, PenCom, says it has decided to enroll women in the informal sector into the Personal Pension Plan, PPP.

The Director General of PenCom, Miss Omolola Oloworaran, who stated this at the PPP inclusion campaign flag- off at Mile 12 Market in Lagos,said it was a way of appreciating Nigerian women for being extraordinary.
Miss Oloworaran, stressed that despite contributing so much to the nation’s economy, many women in the informal sector work their entire lives without financial protection in old
age,which must change.

She pointed out that women raise children, support families, and carry enormous responsibility with courage and determination and therefore their old should be secured.
According to Miss Oloworaran, K explained that PenCom decided to introduce the Personal Pension Plan because they believe that every Nigerian woman deserves dignity, security, and independence in old age.
“This plan allows market women, traders, artisans, farmers, and other self-employed Nigerians to start saving small amount for a secure tomorrow, She said”.
Miss Oloworaran, explained that the women can start with as little as N1,000 and can contribute daily, weekly, or monthly, depending on how their businesses go.
She expressed optimism that their savings will be professionally invested to grow over time.
Miss Oloworaran noted that Nigeria’s pension industry manages over N28 trillion in pension assets for more than 11 million Nigerians.
According to Miss Oloworaran the system is safe, transparent, and trusted and that is why they decided to extend the same benefits to women in the informal sector.
“And because is international Women’s Day. ee are doing something special, from 9 to 13 March, every contribution made by a woman into her Personal Pension Plan account, will receive a matching contribution, up to a specified limit.
That means when you save, we also add to your savings.

PenCom’s brand Ambassador and Actress, Chioma Omeruah popularly known as Chigu. encouraged the traders and artisans to register the Personal Person plan to secure a good old age.
“If you register with PenCom, be rest assured that your future is secured, she added.”
From Mile 12 Market, a town hall meeting took place at Alausa with over a thousand women to also sensitise them on the benefits of pension.
Many pension companies were on ground to register the women.
