The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary traffic diversion to facilitate repair works on the damaged pedestrian bridge at Tincan First Gate, Apapa, inward Mile 2.
According to a statement issued by the state Ministry of Transportation on Wednesday via X, the repair exercise is scheduled for Saturday, December 20, between 9:00am and 1:00pm, and will be executed in two phases.
During Phase One, which involves the lifting and placement of bridge beams, the road linking Tincan, Apapa to Mile 2 will be completely closed for about 20 minutes.
The ministry noted that traffic flow will resume immediately after the beam-lifting operation is concluded.
For Phase Two, covering the lifting and installation of bridge slabs, traffic from Tincan, Apapa to Mile 2 will continue to move, but vehicles will be diverted to a single lane approximately 50 metres before the repair site.
Full access will be restored about 50 metres after the work area. Traffic from Mile 2 to Tincan, Apapa will remain uninterrupted throughout this phase.
The ministry urged motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic officials, explaining that the temporary full and partial road closures are necessary to ensure safety during the repair works being handled by the Federal Ministry of Works, through the Office of the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos.
