Lagos Bus Drivers Call Off Strike As MC Oluomo Sets Up Task Force To Proffer Solutions To Drivers’ Grievances.

Members of the Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria, JDWAN, have finally called off their industrial action in Lagos State.

Its National Leader, Comrade Abiodun Akintade, made this announcement after a rescheduled meeting with the Lagos State Parks and Garages Management in Agege area of Lagos over the drivers complaints about extortion and harassment by members of the Parks and Garage management.

Chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages Management, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly k own as ‘MC Oluomo’ has set up a Task Force team comprising 10 branch chairmen, nine members of the drivers’ association and others nominees from the Chairman of Committee of Lagos State Parks Administration, Oba Sulaiman Adeshina-Ashade, the Oniba of Iba, to rid the bus stops of alleged area boys.

The Task Force has a month ultimatum to clear areas where the boys are stationed to collect the alleged fees.

The Parks and Garage management, promised to liaise with the State Commissioner for Transportation and Special Adviser on Transportation to nip the illegal activities of extortion in the bud and to find a lasting solution to the issue of harassment of commercial transporters in the State.
