Lagos First Lady Flags Off Measles–Rubella Immunisation Campaign

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, is set to flag off the Measles–Rubella and Routine Immunisation Campaign in the State on January 27, 2026.

The week-long exercise will run until February 5 and will be implemented across all Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa, who disclosed the development, described routine immunisation as a proven and effective public health intervention against preventable diseases such as polio, tuberculosis, diphtheria, whooping cough, and cervical cancer.

Dr. Mustafa assured residents that all vaccines to be administered during the campaign are safe, effective, and completely free of charge.

He emphasised the State Government’s commitment to reaching every eligible child and adolescent, irrespective of location or socio-economic background.

He noted that sustained immunisation efforts significantly reduce child morbidity and mortality, improve school attendance, and contribute to long-term social and economic development.

According to him, vaccination services will be provided through primary health care centres, schools, religious institutions, and temporary vaccination posts to ensure coverage of underserved and hard-to-reach communities.

Dr. Mustafa urged parents and caregivers to fully participate in the campaign by visiting the nearest vaccination post, assuring that all vaccines will be administered by trained health personnel in strict compliance with national and international safety standards.
