Our correspondent Adeyemi Adesanya reports that distribution of election materials began early at the LASIEC office in Agege and is proceeding smoothly across the council’s seven wards, with no reports of misplacement or logistical issues at the time of reporting.
Security presence is strong, with multiple patrol vehicles enforcing the 6am–3pm movement restriction.
Major parks and bus stops remain empty, reflecting public compliance.
While some polling units already had voters queueing up, others had residents waiting for officials to arrive.
Igando: Delay in Arrival of LASIEC Officials
Over in Isuti Road, Egan (Igando)—a typically busy axis—commercial buses and private vehicles were notably absent as the government-enforced restriction took full effect.
Only motorcycle operators (okadas) were seen moving along the quiet roads.
As of 9:30 a.m., LASIEC officials and voting materials had yet to arrive at many polling units in Egan and its surrounding neighborhoods. However, uniformed police officers and party agents were already present at several designated locations.
Security remained tight, with armed patrols maintaining order, and shops across the community mostly closed, save for a few within residential areas where residents made quick purchases.
Despite the low voter turnout so far, some residents loitered near polling units, expressing hope that more people would come out once the process formally begins.
