Lagos Needs N7 Trillion for Infrastructure, as Sanwo-Olu Promises Friendly Business Environment

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured the business community in Lagos of thriving environment to boost their businesses in the face of global economic challenges.

Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance at the 8th Lagos Corporate Assembly tagged “BOS Meets Business Community” at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

The Governor who admitted the many challenges in the business community cautioned government agencies’ personnel to interface with business owners with human face with emphasis on “Let Business Owners Breathe” in Lagos, saying the state need almost seven trillion naira to fix its infrastructural deficits.

Governor Sanwo-Olu promised to engage more with the community and ensure interface with other state and federal government agencies including local and international support institutions and economic development partners to promote as sustain the growth of business enterprise.

Some of the Stakeholders called for the Governor’s intervention in areas of environmental sanitation, multiple taxation, levies and harmonization of inspection of business facilities to prevent extortion by different agencies’ personnel.

They also complained on the lackadaisical attitude of traffic Management Agency, LASTMA officials with a call for increased palliatives such as reduced tax levies for female entrepreneurs among others.

Earlier, Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperative, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, reiterated that the state government will continue to use platforms such as the Corporate Assembly, to sustain the engagement to move up the ladder on the global Ease of Doing Business index, and progresses steadily towards inclusive growth that would benefit the investors and the residents.

The participants in the programme, included Captains of Industries, representatives of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Heads of agencies and parastatals, heads of foreign missions, members of the state executive council, bankers,  business leaders, Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs, MSMEs, among others.
