Winners Emerge as 17th HOS Games Ends

The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro has promised to place emphasis on the physical and mental well-being of every civil servant in the state for improved productivity and service delivery for the benefit of all residents in the state.

Mr Bode Agoro, stated this in an interaction with newsmen at the closing ceremony of the 17th Edition of the HOS Games, held at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena, Onikan.

Mr Agoro said the primary objectives of the HOS games was to foster the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie, as well as promoting the culture of physical fitness and mental wellness amongst public servants in the State.

The HOS who congratulated the winners at different categories noted that participants would be representing Lagos at national and international levels, with the discovery of new talents among them.

On her part, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs Sunkanmi Oyegbola, expressed satisfaction with the participation of workers from different  Ministries, Parastatals, Council Areas, with a call on workers to do regular medical checkup to ascertain their health status.

In the female football competition, the PSO team defeated their SUBEB counterpart by 2-0 to win the coveted trophy and gold medal, while in the male category, the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency thrashed LASUTH by 4-2 on penalties after playing a 2-2 draw in regulation time to claim the trophy and the gold medal.

In the male category of the Tug of War, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service defeated the Public Service Office to clinch gold, while in the female category, New Town Development Authority emerged winners after beating LAGFERRY to the top spot.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu presented trophies and medals to the winners.  Other sports in the HOS Games include Ayo, Chess, Scrabble, Lawn Tennis, Table-Tennis and Tug of War among others which brought more glamour and fun to the competition.
