Three members of the same family, a couple and their child, have died in a road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, while two others were injured.
The Permanent Secretary Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the incident in a statement said the crash involved three vehicles and happened near the Lagos State Secretariat, heading towards the Otedola Bridge.

Dr Oke-Osanyintolu explained that the accident occurred when an Audi car, heading towards Berger, ran into a slowly moving truck near the Secretariat.

Investigations by the LASEMA Response Team revealed that the collision between the truck and car occurred when the Volkswagen Audi car, registration number YAB 742 CN, crashed into the rear of a slow-moving truck, registration number unknown which resulted in significant damage to the accidented car, leaving the vehicle completely wrecked with the truck driver reportedly fleeing the scene.

He noted that the accident victims were promptly attended by LRU Ambulance, FRSC Ambulance and transported to the Trauma Centre for further medical care, while the extricated commodities have been handed over to officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, SEHMU, for further processing.
LASEMA PS further advised motorists to drive carefully especially when approaching the route.
