Media experts converge on Abeokuta as Bishop Odetoyinbo inaugurates CAMPAN

All roads heads to Abeokuta today for the inauguration of the Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, CAMPAN, Catholic Artists and Entertainers Association as well as the Parish Communications Commission.

The three bodies will be inaugurated by the Bishop of Abeokuta, the Most Reverend Peter Odetoyinbo.

The event which will hold at the SS Peter and Paul Cathedral will see many communication experts in journalism, Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations converging on the diocese for the event.

The Director Social Communications of the Diocese, the Reverend Father Gregory Fadele said that the three bodies would assist the church in the task of evangelism.

Immediately after the inauguration, there will be a seminar on the theme of the World Communication Day, “Listening with the Ear of the Heart” at the Cathedral hall.

Renowned economist Professor Pat Utomi will deliver a paper titled “Journalism of Empathy in a Trouble Nation,” while the Commissioner of information, Ogun State, Mr. Waheed Odushile will Chair the event

Media gurus will be on hand to add flesh to the paper by discussing it.

Those who will do justice to it include; a former Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, The Sun Publishing, Dr. Tony Onyima; founder/Chief Executive Officer, Rock City FM, Abeokuta, Dr. Niran Malaolu; Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, Vanguard Media, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye; and Chairman, Lagos Council, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi.
