National Orientation Agency NOA Calls for Responsive Journalism

Media professionals in the country have been advised to use their mediums to project national cohesion and peace, through conflict resolution reportage and desist from magnifying the wrong narratives about the just concluded 2023 general election.


This advice was given by the Director General, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Dr Garba Abari at a news conference for National Cohesion and Peace with the theme, ” Nigeria First” in lkeja , Lagos.

Dr Abari who described the media as critical stakeholders in the management of the ethnic, cultural, religious and political diversities, reminded them of their responsibility in sustaining national unity.

Dr Abari urged the media to put national unity and development above all other interests, in what they broadcast, write and post on the social media platforms.

Dr Abari explained that the NOA had engaged the media professionals in Kano and Abuja before coming to Lagos because the state has the largest population of media outfits.


Earlier, the NOA Director in Lagos, Dr Waheed lshola explained that the media parley was to address challenges which arose from the 2023 general election.


Dr lshola added that all Nigerians have a part to play in fostering national unity by propagating issues that unite the people and not otherwise.

Contributing, the Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Lagos operations, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi who was represented by the General Manager, Bond FM, Princess Adenike Adegoke pledged the support of the corporation towards National cohesion and Peace .

Mrs Owoyemi called for continuous collaboration with the media and other stakeholders to promote national unity.
