National Youths Corps Members to serve as INEC Ad-hoc Staff charged to be upright

2023 Batch “A” Stream One Corps Members posted to Lagos state taking Oath of Allegiance at the Swearing-in ceremony held at the NYSC temporary Orientation camp, Iyana-Ipaja Lagos.

National Youths Corps members that are to serve as INEC ad-hoc staff at the forthcoming general elections have been asked to conduct themselves well at the polls in the interest of the nation’s democracy.

The Lagos State Coordinator, National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa gave the advice at the Swearing-in of the 2023 Batch “A” Stream One Corps Members posted to Lagos state, held at the NYSC temporary Orientation camp, in Iyana-Ipaja Lagos.

She said that the Corps Members should see the assignemt of participating in the conduct of the general elections as part of their selfless service to the nation, and as such carry out the task without fear or favour.

She stressed that the Corps members should work towards sustaining the Confidence INEC reposed in NYSC over the years by involving Corps members in the conduct of elections.

Mrs. Baderinwa however, announced thst out of the Two Thousand, Six Hundred and Ninety Corps members posted to Lagos state for the 2023 Batch “A” Stream One Service year, Seven hundred and tenty- three of them were dislodged to Ogun and Osun states for their Orientation course due to inadequate space at the Lagos State temporary Orientation Camp.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Relations, Mr. Tunde Ogundeko who represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the event enjoined the Corps members to take advantage of various Self empowerment programmes that they would be exposed to in the course of the orientation course in order to acquire relevant skills that would make them self reliant after the service year.

He however, gave the assurance that the Lagos State government in conjunction with other relevant agencies would ensure that the Corps members were well taken care of at the Orientation camp.

The highlight of the event was the administering of Oath of Allegiance on the Corps members by Justice Busola Okunuga on behalf of the Chied Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kareem Alogba.
