The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that it will be increasing its surveillance of flight operations across all airlines to ensure compliance with regulations and global best practices.
This move comes as the authority seeks to address concerns over chronic flight delays and cancellations, particularly with regards to Air Peace, the country’s largest domestic operator.
According to the Director General, Civil Aviation Authority, Captain Chris Najomo, while the NCAA will continue to provide support to airlines, operators must adhere to the set guidelines.
Captain Najomo recently met with Air Peace management staff in Abuja, where he directed the airline to take immediate action to improve its domestic operations.
He advised Air Peace to scale back its operations to match the number of available aircraft in its fleet, in an effort to mitigate the current crisis.
Air Peace representatives acknowledged the challenges faced by the airline, which they described as not unusual in the industry, but assured that they are working tirelessly to resolve the issues.
