Operatives of a Special Operations Unit of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking network, leading to the arrest of two suspected kingpins, Victor Nwosa and Felix Chika Obiegbu.

The arrests were made in Lagos following the recovery of significant consignments of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine that were being prepared for export to Europe and other international destinations.
According to a statement from the Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the arrests were the culmination of weeks of intensive intelligence gathering and surveillance on the criminal syndicates.
The suspects allegedly operated under the guise of legitimate businesses to conceal their illicit activities. Nwosa, 64, presented himself as a successful textile merchant, while 49-year-old Obiegbu was known as a wine distributor.
The NDLEA operatives swooped in on the suspects at their respective homes as they prepared the narcotics for shipment. Nwosa was apprehended on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at his residence at 16 Femi Kila Street, Okota.
A search of his house led to the recovery of 4.33 kilograms of heroin and 448 grams of cocaine.
In a related operation, Obiegbu was arrested on Thursday, September 11, at his home at 5 Shada Shonefun Street, Aguda, Surulere, where officials uncovered and seized 2.902 kilograms of methamphetamine.
In the same vein, the agency reported that its operatives in the North-East thwarted attempts to supply illicit drugs to terrorists and bandits in Borno and Yobe states.
During stop and search operations, officers intercepted narcotics cleverly concealed in the engine compartment of a Mercedes Benz jeep and also within a lady’s travelling bag, preventing the substances from reaching the criminal elements.
