NDLEA Intercepts Cocaine Shipments Bound for UK, Australia

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says its operatives have intercepted cocaine and other illicit drugs concealed in cartons bound for the United Kingdom and Australia.

NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, says the seizures were made at a Lagos courier facility, where cocaine hidden inside cartons of clothes and large quantities of opioids destined for the UK were recovered.

The agency also carried out major operations across several states, destroying about 65,000 kilograms of skunk on cannabis farms in Delta State and arresting suspects linked to the illegal drug trade.

In Kaduna, operatives recovered 361 kilograms of skunk and intercepted nearly two thousand rounds of ammunition concealed in bags of garri along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

NDLEA also arrested a businessman in Abuja accused of producing drug-laced cakes and cookies for social events, while additional raids in Ogun, Taraba, Oyo, Edo and Kano states led to more arrests and seizures of narcotics and opioid pills.
