The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 50-year-old Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike for attempting to traffic 1.3kg of cocaine concealed under a fake pregnancy.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said Ezewuike, a widowed mother of one and proprietress of Golden Star Creation, a fashion business in Okota, Lagos, was apprehended on Friday at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, while trying to move the drugs to Abuja.
A search of her home in Ago Palace Way led to the recovery of 200 grams of a cutting agent used in cocaine production.
Ezewuike reportedly confessed that she inherited the criminal trade from her late husband, while also running her fashion business for over two decades.
In another operation, NDLEA intercepted 90 parcels of Loud (48.6kg of cannabis) imported from the United States and concealed in kitchen sink cartons at a courier company in Lagos.
Similarly, in Adamawa, operatives raided the home of a notorious dealer, Idris Garba, who escaped, but arrested his associate, Boniface Nnaji, 55, while recovering 354,480 tramadol pills, two vehicles, and other illicit substances.
Also, at Idah waterside in Kogi state, NDLEA arrested Neche Okonkwo with 5,000 tramadol capsules, 400 ampoules of pentazocine, and 200 diazepam injections, smuggled across River Niger from Onitsha.
NDLEA chairman Buba Marwa praised the officers for the successful seizures and urged them to sustain the agency’s balanced approach to drug control.
