Hyacinth Dajoh, Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, has stepped down from office.
Dajoh, in a letter to the Assembly Clerk on Sunday, said his resignation was “in good faith and in the best interest of the state.”
He thanked his colleagues for the opportunity to serve and pledged continued commitment to his role as representative of Gboko West constituency.
His resignation comes just two days after four lawmakers were suspended over an alleged plot to impeach him.
The suspended members include Alfred Berger (Makurdi North), Terna Shimawua (Kian), Cyril Ekong (Obi), and James Umoru (Apa).
Meanwhile, Governor Hyacinth Alia has distanced himself from the crisis, insisting he played no role in the alleged move to remove the former Speaker.
