NGE Shifts Date for 2025 Editors’ Conference as Tinubu Set to Declare Event Open

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has rescheduled its 2025 All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) to November 12–13, 2025.

In a statement jointly signed by the Guild’s President, Eze Anaba, and General Secretary, Onuoha Ukeh, the NGE said the adjustment was due to circumstances beyond its control.

The conference venue remains Abuja.

According to the Guild, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed his participation as Special Guest of Honour and will formally declare the conference open on November 12.

The statement expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the change, assuring members, guests, and the public that the conference will remain a credible platform for discussing national development and cohesion.

The 2025 ANEC, themed “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors,” will feature a sub-theme, “Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027.”

Among the scheduled speakers are Prof. Awa Kalu (SAN), who will deliver a paper on “Election Disputes and Judicial Integrity: Navigating the Thin Line Between Law and Politics,” and Prof. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim of the University of Abuja, who will speak on “State of the Nation: Imperative of Economic and Political Reforms in a Challenged Nation.”

Other presentations include “The Evolving Face of Journalism: Battling Misinformation, AI Disruption, and Credibility Gap” by Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi of Baze University, and “Media, Terrorism, and National Security: Addressing the Complexities” by former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor (rtd).

The two-day conference will also feature an executive session where editors will engage government officials, political leaders, and industry experts on governance and national issues.

Over 500 editors and media executives are expected to attend the annual event, which serves as the foremost professional gathering for Nigerian editors to chart paths for national development through responsible journalism.
