Nigeria has recorded another milestone in international law enforcement as Commissioner of Police Olubode Ojajuni has been elected to the INTERPOL Africa Committee during the 27th African Regional Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa.
The victory secures Nigeria the committee’s fifth seat for a two-year tenure.
The INTERPOL Africa Committee is tasked with advising the African Regional Conference, coordinating its sessions, and setting strategic priorities to address cross-border crimes.
It also fosters police cooperation, promotes global best practices, and develops projects aimed at strengthening regional and continental security.
This achievement further cements Nigeria’s growing influence in global security affairs, particularly in tackling transnational crimes, terrorism, cybercrime, and other emerging threats.
With CP Ojajuni representing the country, Nigeria is poised to play an even more active role in shaping policing strategies within the INTERPOL framework.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, congratulated CP Ojajuni on the accomplishment, describing it as a testament to the Nigeria Police Force’s professionalism, integrity, and commitment to international cooperation.
He also reaffirmed the Force’s readiness to deepen collaboration with global partners to enhance peace and security worldwide.
This election marks a significant step in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its contributions to regional and global security initiatives.
