NiMet Deepens Accountability Push, Inducts New ACTU Members

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has taken a fresh step to tighten accountability within its ranks, inaugurating new members of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit, ACTU.

At the ceremony, NiMet Director General, Prof. Charles Anosike described the move as a decisive push to strengthen internal safeguards against corruption.

As contained in a statement, he said the development is in line with the agency’s 2026 to 2030 strategic plan, which places integrity, professionalism and accountability at the heart of its operations.

Prof. Anosike noted that the ACTU plays a critical watchdog role, helping to prevent misconduct and promote ethical behaviour across the agency.

He added that expanding the unit’s membership is aimed at improving efficiency and inclusiveness, while reinforcing a culture where transparency becomes standard practice.

In a firm charge to the newly inducted members, the NiMet boss called for diligence, integrity and professionalism, assuring them of full institutional support.

Representing the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Mr. Olusegun Adigun commended NiMet’s leadership for strengthening the unit, urging closer collaboration to boost credibility and public trust.
