Odunmbaku marks 2 years in office, promises more dividends of democracy to Ojodu LCDA residents

The Chairman of Ojodu Local Coucil Development Area, Mr David Odunmbaku has assured residents of the area of his administration’s commitment to improve their standards of living.

He restated this at a roundtable with newsmen in Ikeja as part of activities marking his two years in office.

Mr Odunmbaku who explained that in the last two years, the LCDA under his leadership had carried out Development projects cutting across sectors such as Health, Education, Environment, Youths empowerment and Social Infrastructure, including road rehabilitation announced that seven roads in the Council area have been given face-lift, while over two thousand youths have been empowered with skills as part of efforts to reduce unemployment.

According to him, the seven primary healthcare centres in the LCDA have been rehabilitated, while two of them were upgraded to a 24 hours service delivery and one became a full-fledged maternity hospital.

“We will be leveraging what we’ve been able to achieve so far in the last two years to make sure we provide even more for our people in the next two years. My advice to residents is for them to be patient, as a responsible government, we won’t disappoint them” Odunmbaku assured.

To cushion the impact of the current economic hardship, Mr Odunmbaku said 14 mini buses were released to some residents of the LCDA to ease transportation, while plans are underway to provide free shuttle buses for students and pupils when school resume in September.

The Ojodu LCDA Council Boss who recently organised a palliative market during which all food items worth between three to five thousand naira were sold to residents at a subsidised rate of one thousand naira, urged the residents to continue to be law abiding and to look forward to more poverty alleviating initiatives from his administration.

He said “on the 10th of August we will be doing the Widows food programme as well for 250 widows within the community, we will also be doing two other food programmes before the end of the year, and other programmes will come up as well. The measures are just to cushion the impact of the subsidy removal for our people”

Mr David Odunmbaku revealed that arrangements are also underway in partnership with LAWMA to turn waste to energy to boost electricity supply in the Council Area.
