Favourites Rivers Hoopers are relishing the chance of participating in the Sam Oguche-Bullet basketball championship which tipped off today at the Indoor Sports Hall of National Stadium Surulere Lagos.
The Ogo Odaudu tutored Hoopers will face Lagos Legends in the men’s game 3 of the competition which incidentally serves as a dress rehearsal for clubs that will get involved in the Nigeria Basketball Federation NBBF Final 8 playoffs billed for 6 November also in Lagos.
Odaudu can’t wait to hit the ground running with his Hoopers:
“It’s quite a great opportunity for my team. The fear of entering the playoffs in a very rusty form is gone with the Bullet event. We are going to use it to get very ready for the bigger playoffs event that starts immediately afterwards.”
The Hoopers/Legends matchup is preceded by the championship tip off tie between Raptors and Grizzly Bears at 9am, which is followed by a women’s matchup between perennial national champions First Bank and War Queens.
Elsewhere, another women’s top side Air Warriors of Abuja will confront Peace Academy while Coach Ayo Bakare’s Ebun Comets will square off against Warlords.
Tap Queens play Sunshine, Coal City square up to MIBAHA CHANNANS in the men’s, while the last game for the day at 4pm sees Impression sizing up with Raptors.
