Opeifa Unveils NRC Anti-Corruption Unit, Reinforces Integrity Drive
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa, has reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to transparency, integrity and accountability as he inaugurated the newly reconstituted Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU).

He described the development as a major step in strengthening ethical conduct and internal governance across the organisation.
Dr. Opeifa noted that the Corporation’s expanding operational footprint and ongoing modernisation require stronger internal controls and robust ethical standards.
He emphasized that the ACTU, established by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), is a strategic mechanism for preventing corruption, promoting transparency and boosting public confidence in government institutions.
He charged the newly inaugurated ACTU members to champion compliance with regulations, ensure prompt reporting of violations, lead sustained anti-corruption awareness, and maintain close collaborative engagement with the ICPC.
According to him, the NRC management will continue to provide an environment where accountability thrives and unethical behaviour is not tolerated.
Representing the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, officials of the Commission underscored ACTU’s role as an internal accountability platform designed to identify systemic weaknesses and enforce ethical standards across Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
They urged the new members to uphold diligence, integrity and professionalism in executing their sensitive mandate.
In her acceptance speech, ACTU NRC Chairperson, Mrs. Clara Ndibe, pledged that the unit would strengthen internal processes, promote ethical conduct and enhance public trust in the NRC.
Leaders of the Nigerian Union of Railway Workers and the Senior Staff Workers Union also expressed support for the Corporation’s renewed focus on transparency and accountable service delivery.
