Osun Judiciary Workers Begin Indefinite Strike Over Welfare, Promotions

The Osun State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has declared an indefinite strike over unresolved issues affecting staff welfare and delayed promotions.

In a statement, the State Chairman, Mr. Idris Adeniran, directed members to immediately withdraw their services and stop reporting to work.

He explained that the strike was prompted by the persistent failure of the Osun State Judicial Service Commission, chaired by Chief Judge Justice Adepele Ojo, to address long-standing grievances raised by the union.

JUSUN is demanding urgent action on the welfare of judiciary staff as well as the full implementation of the 2024/2025 promotion exercise.

According to Mr. Adeniran, delays in convening a meeting to consider eligible staff for promotion have left many workers demoralised and frustrated.

He further noted that while the state government has approved and disbursed benefits to employees in other ministries and parastatals, judiciary workers have been left behind.
